About the Movie
Through breathtaking visuals and thought-provoking insights, the documentary invites audiences to consider one of humanity's oldest questions: Does the evidence point to a universe shaped solely by blind chance, or is there evidence of purpose and design?
My Reviewππππ
As someone who loves God's Word and has long been fascinated by the creation account in Genesis, I was naturally drawn to The Story of Everything. Yet I quickly discovered that this isn't a traditional apologetics film built around Scripture. Instead, it is a beautifully crafted, science-focused documentary that explores the history of ideas about the universe's origins and presents research suggesting that an intelligent Designer best explains what we observe throughout creation.
In fact, I was surprised to learn that the film was inspired by Stephen C. Meyer's bestselling book Return of the God Hypothesis. Somehow, this book had escaped my notice, but you can be sure it has now been added to my ever-growing TBR stack!
One statement that particularly resonated with me was this: "Sometimes the path toward truth leads through beauty…and that is an important window. We need to be able to open that." This one thought sent me down a few rabbit holes researching the "beauty principle" and "gratuitous beauty" as they relate to creation. I love a film or book that makes me think!
Through stunning visuals and thought-provoking insights, the documentary invites viewers to consider the beauty, order, and design woven throughout the universe.
If you enjoy documentaries that inspire wonder and explore life's biggest questions, I think you will appreciate The Story of Everything. While it approaches these questions from a scientific perspective, I couldn't help but be reminded of the words of Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of His hands."
