Who am I...

I am a southern woman who has expanded my horizons as I have lived and traveled all over the U.S. and beyond. I am married to my college sweetheart who, like David in the Bible, is a man after God’s own heart. After being in ministry as well as the corporate world throughout all of our years of marriage (since 1983), we moved out west to Nevada in January of 2009 to begin a new adventure…church planting. Journey Community Church was born...later to be shortened to Journey Church. 


It has been quite a Journey...pun intended. ;-)  The church grew and flourished under God's guidance and the power of the Holy Spirit. We have seen oppression begin to lift in a city that was indeed under deep spiritual oppression. 

In planting Journey, God allowed us to partner with other churches in the 
area to grow His Kingdom, coming together to crash the gates of hell and see healing and new life as Christ was introduced to many who so desperately needed His love, grace, forgiveness, and restoration.

In 2016, God began to move on our hearts again as He called us to our present ministry in Virginia. A church re-plant of sorts. I feel as if I have come home. This part of Virginia is so much like my home state of Georgia. I'm looking forward to all that God has in store for us here.  

I am a woman who wears many hats: pastor’s wife, mom, mom-in-law, Gigi, sister, aunt, adorable pet owner, coffee table counselor, writer, speaker, church planter, photographer, Vocal Music Instructor/Coach, Women's Ministry Leader, teacher...and has a secret desire to own a Coffee Shop/Bookstore complete with its own resident cat...

I am a  woman whose passion it is to have a heart captivated by the grace and love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Gay Idle is a self-proclaimed Pastor's Wife Extraordinaire…not because of anything special she has done but because of this extraordinary journey that God has brought her to and through. 

A dedicated wife, mother, and Gigi, Gay serves alongside her Pastor husband, Rod, at Kindred Church in Virginia. 

As a speaker, writer/blogger, and women’s ministry leader, her greatest passion is leading women to the heart of God through a greater understanding of and passion for His Word. 

She is a contributing author two books, Bloom Where You’re Planted: Stories of Women In Church Planting, and The First Year: The Pretty & Wise Collective. She is currently working on her solo book, Light On The Valley Floor(working title) to be released at a future date.
